Trent Bridge, Nottingham :
Indian Captain Virat Kohli scored his second century of the series along with half centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara and Hardik Pandya taking India’s lead to 520 which has never been achieved in cricket’s history. The highest chase in Test cricket is 418 by West Indies against Australia.
FIRST SESSION :
At the end of second day’s play Cheteshwar Pujara (33) and Virat Kohli (8) were on the crease. India was on 124/2 with a winning lead of 292. On the 3rd day Indian batsmen looked to capitalize on the lead. Pujara and Kohli faced Anderson and Broad with grit and a great defensive technique. Pujara who was dropped in the first test brought up his 18th Test fifty.

Captain Kohli fell short of 3 runs to notch up a ton in the first innings. In the second innings it was not to be. Kohli brought up his 19th Test fifty.

Pujara and Kohli added 83 runs in the first session and the lead went up to 362. No wickets fell in the session.

Cheteshwar Pujara wasn’t able to bring up his ton. He made 72 runs as he fell to Ben Stokes.

At the stroke of tea, India had a mammoth lead of 438 runs. Virat and Ajinkya were notout on 93 and 17 runs respectively.

THIRD SESSION :
Captain Kohli notched up his second century of the series and 23rd of his illustrious career. He made 103.

Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammed Shami fell to accelerate the scoring but it was Hardik Pandya’s blitzkrieg that helped India cross 500.
