Video : Indian Army-led surgical strike in PoK

Videos of Indian Army-led surgical strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2016 were released yesterday on several news channels. Surgical strikes were carried out on 7 terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC).

The videos showed some terrorists being killed, besides destruction of bunkers and other military constructions. The videos were taken by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Thermal Imaging (TI) cameras used by the Army to monitor the operation.

As reported by Zee News, the surgical strike was monitored from New Delhi by the then defence minister Manohar Parrikar, then army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

A report in The Indian Express quoted Lt General DS Hooda, former Northern Army commander, saying the videos are genuine. “The videos are real. I can confirm that.”

“When surgical strikes happened, my view was that videos should be released as proof. It is good that they have come out now.” Hooda added

The surgical strike was India’s response to the Uri attack on 18 September 2016 which claimed lives of 20 Indian soldiers.
