Twitterati hails the ‘heroic’ work of Manipur IAS officer Deleep Singh

Manipur has been hit by severe floods. More than 1.5 lakh people have been affected in 150 villages,12000 houses have been damaged and 5 lives have been lost. Due to incessant rains and landslides, hundreds of trucks are stranded of NH37 (Imphal-Jiribram) highway which is the lifeline of the state.

59 relief camps have been opened and Rs. 3.2 crores are released to tackle the calamity, tweeted the Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren. In another tweet he requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah for immediate action.

Amidst the news of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, landslides; social media has been glooming with joy. A picture of Manipur IAS officer Deleep Singh standing in waist-deep water is being widely circulated. The twitterati has hailed him as a ‘hero’. He is seen standing in waist-deep water, while leading the rescue operations in the flood-hit area of Imphal.

Singh is the flood control secretary in the state. His self-less act fuelled with determination has been praised all over social media making him a social media star.

Bollywood Actor Boman Irani called him an unsung hero.
