Puneites, If Any Complaints, WhatsApp New Police Commissioner

Pune’s new police commissioner, K Venkatesham, has declared his WhatApp number on which Puneites can send their complaints and grievances, which will be personally tracked by him. He announced his number – 8975 283 100 at the  commissionerate in Camp on Monday ( 6 August ).

The commissioner also said that he would be active on social media like his predecessor Commissioner Rashmi Shukla, who has been  promoted as Additional director general (ADG) of Highway safety patrol (HSP). The Twitter handle of the Pune commissioner is @CPPuneCity.

Venkatesham has outlined his plans to curb crime in the city. He said, “City police will focus more on strict vigilance on different types of crimes and will take timely action to bring the desired results for the citizens.”

Talking about the cyber crime in the city, Venkatesham said that Mumbai pattern of investigation will be followed. He has widely appealed the citizens to  “come out with their law and order problems.”

K Venkatesham : 

K Venkatesham was earlier the police commissioner of Nagpur and has also worked as Additional Director General of Police (Training and Special Units), Maharashtra State Police Headquarter.

He is an officer of 1988 batch of Indian Police service (IPS). He began his career as Additional Superintendent (ASP) in Gondia District. He has worked as Deputy Commissioner of Police in different zones in Mumbai. He also worked as Deputy Director in Intelligence Bureau (IB), DIG (Law & Order) and Additional CP (South Mumbai).

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had appointed him as the chief of the Special Task Force (STF) to investigate the multi-crore scholarship scam in educational institutions across Maharashtra.
