Microsoft working on an Android-powered smartphone: Report

Technology major Microsoft is working on a new smartphone model which will be powered by Android, according to reports. The phone is not a part of the Lumia series, the report said, adding that the new edition of smartphones will be branded under the company’s name. However, the report did not reveal any specifications of the anticipated Microsoft smartphone.

Microsoft is actively working on a new line of phones based on Android software due for release sometime in early 2019, according to a new Windows Latest report. The report cites some Microsoft employees seemingly confirming the existence of such Microsoft branded Android phones, although it is also quick to note that it cannot guarantee the authenticity of the report. Microsoft is yet to formally announce any plans relating to the launch of an Android phone, or for that matter any other phone in the near future despite being rumoured to be working on a Surface phone for years.
