Janmashtami being celebrated with gusto across India

It’s Janmashthami and the devout across the country are flocking temples waiting to welcome Lord krishna into the world.

The entire Braj region including the birthplace of Lord Krishna is brimming with religious fervour.Festivities are on in full swing in the famous temples of krishna janmabhoomi, Dwarkadheesh the thakur banke bihariji temple and Iskcon temples have been decorated with colourful lights.

At the stroke of midnight when Lord Krishna will be born.Conch shells would be blown at his temples in the Braj region including his Janmabhoomi and Dwarkadhish temples.At banke bihari temple, devotees were seen offering prayers since the early morning mangla arti itself.

The Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, will see the actual celebrations with commence with mahabhisheka at the auspicious stroke of midnight.Devotees flock to Mathura and Vrindavan on Janmashthami from across the world and this year too it was no different..

For most it is an occasion to acquire blessings and cleanse away one’s sins.Heavy security arrangements have also been made with police placed on high alert in every nook and corner of Mathura and vrindavan.In Dwarka the city of Lord Krishna too festivities are on in full swing, with temples specially lit up, and not just temples.

The entire town has been decorated like a bride and devotees were seen eagerly waiting to welcome the infant Lord Krishna into the world.Braving the rains, in National Capital Delhi, devotees were seen thronging temples from the early morning hours with the Birla temple and Iskcon temple attracting huge crowds.

Children dressed as Lord krishna were also seen in temples across the city.In Mumbai enthusiastic devotees of lord krishna were seen singing bhajans Kirtans were the order of the day in temples decorated with colourful ligts and flowers.The ISKCON temple in the city was a lively site of people fasting, praying and singing hyms together.

Similar scenes of festive gaiety and devotion were seen in towns in UP other than Mathura and Vrindavan with long queues seen outside temples throughout the day.J&K too is celebrating Janmashtami .Temples were lit with colourful lights in Poonch in Jammu region.Festivities took place in Srinagar too.

Janmashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadon.Lord Krishna was born in a prison cell in Mathura where his maternal uncle Kans had incarcerated Janaki and Vasudev Lord Krishna’s parents.
