It was a historic day for Indian Football as the U20 team beat six time U20 champions Argentina, 2-1 and the U16 team defeated the Asian U16 champions Iraq, 1-0.
The U20 boys were playing Argentina in the Cotif Cup held in Valencia. Deepak Tangri scored the first goal of the match at the 4th minute and Anwar Ali scored another goal at the 68th minute. Despite being reduced to only 10 players, India humbled the 6 time U20 champions by a margin of 2-1.

In the WAFF U-16 Championship in Jordan, the Indian U16 boys defeated the Asian giants Iraq by a margin of 1-0. Buevenesh scored the winner for India through a header in the final minutes of the match. This victory was the first-ever victory for any Indian football team against Iraq in any format and among all age group.
