Nagpur, July 5: With its check and balance system the democratic system of our country is the most beautiful one. This system is in vogue with better coordination between the administrative system and public representatives and youth should participate in this system to strengthen it further, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis here on Thursday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 48th study group of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Board. Vidhan Parisahd Chairman Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Haribhau Bagde, Animal Husbandry Minister Mahadev Jankar, Treasurer of the Parliamentary Board Ashish Shelar were prominently present.
This is the 4th Monsoon session being conducted in Nagpur and it will be noted in the annals of the history, Chief Minister Fadanvis said adding that the democracy of our country is different from that of other countries in the world. The Indian democracy has a system that keeps control over the legislature, executive and judiciary. All of them are given unlimited powers yet their limitations are also spelt out, he said. We must be grateful to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for giving us such a wonderful Constitution, he said adding that participation of youth who have interest in this, who know the democratic process and who have the capacity to decide its future course was necessary.
The House has a representative of each section of the society to raise the voice of the last man in the row. The people’s representative has to be sensitive in respect of the issues of the common man otherwise he has to face the music in the legislature. The issues of masses are raised in the House using various parliamentary tools. Maharashtra legislature has carved out its niche in the country by maintaining its standard and distinguished identity, the Chief Minister said.
Vidhan Parisahd Chairman Naik Nimbalkar said that such Commonwealth Parliamentary Board workshops are necessary to spread awareness amongst the youth about the Indian democracy. The thoughts of the youth about democracy will get exposure in the workshop.
Speaker Haribhau Bagde said that rural area should also be given equal importance while studying political science. To improve the rural living standard it is necessary to think over ways and means to bring economic prosperity in this region, he added.
MLA Ashish Shelar conducted the proceedings of the program. Principal Secretary of Legislature Dr Anant Kalse was present. 72 students and professors of political science and public administration departments of 11 state universities are participating in this workshop. Ministers of various departments would share their thoughts with the participants in this week-long workshop and they will be able to watch the proceedings of the House also.
