Indian captain Virat Kohli has achieved yet another record. Today Kohli scored 45 in India’s first innings against West Indies in the 2nd Test at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad and surpassed former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq to become the Asian player with most runs as captain.
Virat Kohli who have captained India in 42 Test matches have now scored 4,233 runs at an average of 65.12. He broke the record of Misbah ul Haq, who captained Pakistan in 56 matches scoring 4,214 at 51.39.
Former Srilankan captain Mahela Jayawardane is at the third spot with 3,665 runs in 66 innings. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at number 4 with 3,454 runs from 99 innings and Sunil Gavaskar has mustered 3,449 in 74 innings.
Overall, South Africa’s Graeme Smith leads the tally with 8659 runs from 109 matches, followed by Australia’s Allan Border (6623 runs in 93 matches) and Ricky Ponting (6542 in 77 matches). Virat stands 8th on the table.
