Video : HD Kumaraswamy breaks down in public, says, I’ve swallowed pain of coalition govt

Bengaluru:

Chief Minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy broke down at a public event yesterday, 14 July, taking a jibe at his coalition partner, Congress, he said that I’m swallowing my pain, which is nothing more than poison of being the ‘CM of a coalition’ government.’

The incident took place in an event organised by JD(S) to hail him of becoming the CM, where he refused to accept bouquets and garlands. He said that he is not happy with the current situation of managing a coalition government which lacks the mandate of the people.

The JD(S) leader said he is discontent with the flak he has received in the span of 2 months, after forming a coalition government with the Congress. The backdrop of his emotional speech is a Kodagu boy’s video, which surfaced on social media, stating that roads in the district are fragmented but the CM is not worried. Fishermen from the coastal areas too expressed their anguish against the newly elected CM for failing to waive their loans.

He expressed his limitations in implementation of the promises he made during his election campaign. The BJP is still accusing him of not fulfilling promises on old age pension, allowance for pregnant women among others.

The JD(S) and the Congress stitched up an alliance in Karnataka after the BJP emerged the single largest party with 104 seats in the Assembly Elections. The Congress, in a move to keep the BJP out of power, pledged unconditional support to the JD(S) to form the government. Kumaraswamy took oath as Chief Minister on May 23, 2018.
