Sameer Patil Speaks Eloquently about ‘Poshter Girl’

Sameer Patil as a director hit the box office with his first film ‘Poshter Boyz’ and now he is ready with his second film ‘Poshter Girl’. We caught up with the mild mannered soft spoken director about his eagerly awaited film. A Few excerpt.
There are a lot of expectations from your second film.

Yes. And I hope I live up to the expectations as I have worked harder in this film than the first. Though the film is not a sequel or prequel of the original only the title is a brand and that’s what we have retained it.
What is the story of the film?

The story is about a village and there are a majority of girls in the village with only a few men of marriageable age and hence it creates a funny but difficult situation and this is the germ of this satirical comedy film.
Was the casting of Sonalee Kulkarni your choice?

Yes. We needed an actress who not only looked glamorous and also could dance well and act too and all her previous films like ‘Natarang’, ‘Ajintha’ are proof of this and hence we casted her in the film along with actors like Hrishikesh Joshi, Aniket Vishwasrao, Jitendra Joshi, Siddharth Menon and Sandeep Pathak. The film has a fresh new look and I am sure it will entertain the audiences.
What about the music of the film?

The film has four good songs especially a devotional number shot in a temple and a lavni picturized on Sonalee Kulkarni.
A big corporate like Viacom is producing your film, Isn’t it great?

Yes. It’s a great achievement and I am proud of that Marathi films are now garnering good business and backing from corporate houses.
You started as an actor. So why not act in your films too?

(Laughs) I can’t do too many things at a time and I can’t handle two departments at one time. But in future if an opportunity arises I will definitely act.
