New Zealand women shatter record for the highest ODI total

Dublin, Ireland:

New Zealand women broke their own previous record for the highest ODI total of 455 against Pakistan in Christchurch. The White Ferns playing against Ireland in Dublin at the YCMA Sports Club shattered records to score 490 for the loss of 4 wickets. Interestingly, the highest total in Men’s cricket is 444 by England against Pakistan in Nottingham.

The New Zealand skipper Suize Bates was in top form and scored 151 runs in 94 balls. Her innings included 24 fours and 2 sixes. She was ably supported by another centurion Maddy Green who scored 121 runs in 77 balls including 14 boundaries. Amelia Kerr hammered the Irish bowlers in the death overs slamming 81runs in only 45 balls at a strike rate of 180.

Debutant Ireland leg spinner, Cara Murray now holds a despicable record of conceding most runs ever in an ODI. She gave 119 runs in her quota of 10 over and took 2 wickets.

Later in an almost impossible run chase, Ireland was bundled our by the Kiwi women for a mere 144 runs inside 36 overs. Irish Captain Laura Delany top scored with 37 runs. New Zealand’s Leigh Kasperch took 4 wickets.

New Zealand now lead the 3 match series, 1-0.
