Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the devastation struck God’s own country – Kerala to take stock of the flood situation of the state where 324 lives have been lost in the last nine days, amidst the worst floods in the last 100 years.
In Kerala, I took stock of the situation arising in the wake of the devastating floods across the state.
Joined a review meeting and undertook an aerial survey to assess the damage caused by flooding.

After the review, the Prime Minister announced a financial assistance of Rs 500 crore in addition to Rs 100 Cr announced earlier to the state’s demand of Rs 2000 Cr. The Chief Minister of the state, Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the state has suffered a loss of Rs 19,512 Cr.

Modi also announced an ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and ₹ 50,000 each to those seriously injured in the floods, both taken from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.
However, currently the CM has issued red alert in 11 districts Red Alert issued for today in 11 districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam & Kasaragod.
