IND vs AUS 2nd T20I : Rain Gods Plays Spoil Sport For India

An Indian win looked very much in sight in the 2nd T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket ground but the rain gods played spoil sport and the match had to be abandoned due to rain.

Earlier, Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar proved his captain’s decision right by getting an edge of the Australian captain Aaron Finch in the first over.

 

The youngster Khaleed Ahmed got the dangerous Chris Lynn and D Arcy Short in consecutive overs. Lynn made 13 (13) and Short  made 14 (15).

Krunal Pandya who was hammered in the previous game got the prized wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

Stoins (4), Carey (4) couldn’t contribute much to the Australian total, Bumrah and Kuldeep got the wickets respectively. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar got the wicket of Nathan Coulter-Nile who was hitting the ball a long distance. He made 18 (9) with 2 massive sixes.

Ben McDermott (32) and Andrew Tye (12) remained unbeaten when rain started to pour. Australia made 132/7 in 19 overs. 

According to the DL method, India needed 137 in 19 overs. Later the match was reduced to 11 overs and India needed 90 and the match was again reduced to 5 overs with India needing 46 runs.

But finally the match was called off due to rain. Australia retains 1-0 lead in the 3 match series. India have to win the 3rd T20I at Adelaide on Sunday to draw the series on Sunday.
