Important days in India
Republic Day: The Republic day is celebrating on 26th January of every year in India. India’s Constitution came into effect on 26th January in the year 1950 which replaced the earlier Government of India Act.
May Day: May Day is considered as the International Labour day which is celebrated in almost every country in the World. It was first started by Labour Kisan Party on the day of 1st May, 1923 in Madras (Chennai) in India. May Day is a public and bank holiday in India. On this day, the labour movement had been started in Chennai in India.
Independence Day: The Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August every year. The day on which, India got the independence from the British rule in the year 1947 through independence movement led by Indian National Congress. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru raised the national flag from the Red fort on 15th day of August, 1947.
Teachers’ Day: The teacher’s day is celebrating on 5th September annually in India. It was the birth date of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was the 2nd President of India. He was born on 5th September, 1888 and this day is a celebration day among students and teacher.
Gandhi Jayanthi: The Gandhi Jayanti is a national public holiday in India which was the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi who was non-officially considered as “the Father of Nation”. It is celebrated on 2nd October every year. This day is also celebrated as “International day of Non-Violence” across the globe which was announced by the United Nations General Assembly on 15th June, 2007.
Children’s Day: The Children’s Day is celebrated on 14th November every year in India. It is the birthday (14th November, 1889) of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was the first Prime Minister of India. He is also called Chacha Nehru by the kinds due to his affection and love towards the kids. On this day, every school organizes some cultural programmes for the students.
