France Win The FIFA WC 2018, Heartbreak For Croatia

France have beaten Croatia in the World Cup Finale, 4-2, at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. France has now won the World Cup, twice, last in 1998, exactly 20 years ago. Everyone rooted for the underdogs Croatia but it was not to be. It was a heartbreak for the talented side and its numerous fans.

Croatia started with the attack but it was the header of Mandzukic of a freekick from Griezmann that gave France the lead in the 18th minute. Exactly 10 minutes later, Ivan Perisic scored the equalizer for Croatia. It was Greizmann again who calmly rolled it as the goalkeeper Subasic dived to his left.

France went into the halftime 2-1. It was the first World Cup final since 1974 to have 3 goals in the first half.

At the 61st minute, Pogba scored his first goal of the World cup. His first shot was blocked but he reacted on the rebound, giving France a 3-1 lead.

Kylian Mbappe,19, at the 65th minute scored another goal of a low shot from outside the area. He became the first teenager to score in a World Cup final since Pele in 1998. He gave France a 4-1 lead.

Mario Mandzukic pounched on a mistake by goalkeeper Lorris and made the scoreline 4-2, at the 69th minute and that was it for Croatia.

For the first time since 1958, a World Cup final has seen 6 goals.

Dider Deschamps becomes the only 3rd man to win a World Cup both as a player and a manager.
