France Beat Uruguay 2-0 To Enter Semifinals in FIFA WC 2018

Two time World Champions Uruguay have been beaten by France in the FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals today. France scored two goals while Uruguay didn’t manage to rise up to the occasion, couldn’t score any goal. France will now face the winner of Brazil versus Belgium.

Raphael Varane scored the first goal at the 40th minute for France and at the 61st minute Griezmann scored another of a freekick of a foul by Rodrigo Bentancur.

France had the multifaceted attack which allowed to overcome the Uruguayan defence. Uruguay definitely missed Edison Cavani in the quarterfinals.

Uruguay had 4 shots on target but couldn’t convert any while France had only 2 shots on target and converted both into goals. Uruguay had a ball possession of 38% while the winners France had a possession of 62%. France had a pass accuracy of 80% while Uruguay of 63%.

The 1998 World Champions France are now through to the semifinals for the sixth time while Uruguay – 1930 and 1950 World Champions will head home.
