Despite loss, proud Croatians back their team
Croatian football fans were proud of their team even after the Vatreni, or Blazers, lost to France in its first ever World Cup final on Sunday.
Ahead of the match, fans of Croatia gathered together at the main square in Zagreb, the capital of the country, to watch the final match.
Although the game ended 4-2 in favor of France, fans were still impressed by what Croatia achieved at the tournament. Following the loss fans were still singing and dancing, celebrating their team’s accomplishments.
“We are so proud that our boys came on the World Cup finals. It make us so proud. We are so happy and we will have party all night. In our heart, we are champions,” said a Croatian football fan.
Another fan said she was slightly disappointed with the result, but still very proud to be Croatian. She thinks that the Croatian team did a great job at this year’s World Cup.
The Croatian team is expected to return to the country on Monday, where a huge welcome ceremony is in the works for its players.
