BREAKING : CBI Director Alok Verma Taken off duty, M Nageshwar Rao Appointed

Amidst the terrible public fight between the number 1 and number 2 officers of the CBI, Director Alok Verma has been taken off duty and a Joint Director M Nageshwar Rao has been appointed to his post. The government in an order on Wednesday morning stated the change was an interim measure.

Director Alok Verma and Special Director Rakesh Asthana were summoned by the Prime Minister’s Office reported the Business Standard. The top CBI officials made allegations against each other for accepting a bribe of Rs 3 crore in the Moin Qureshi money laundering case.

Later, the CBI filed an FIR against Special Director Rakesh Asthana alleging that he took a bribe of Rs 3 Crore after a middle man Manoj Prasad, a Dubai based investment banker was caught at the Delhi airport.

Asthana had been arrested on the complaint of a Hyderabad based businessman Satish Sana. It has also arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Devinder Kumar.
