Batti Gul Meter Chalu Trailer : Shahid Kapoor Set To Bring ‘Kranti’, Fighting Corruption

The trailer of Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ has just dropped and the actor promises to bring kranti (revolution) by fighting corrupt officials and bring justice to the small town people of Uttarakhand, dealing with the issue of outrageously high electricity bills despite constant power cuts.

The film’s director Shree Narayan Singh who brought forth the issue ‘toilets’ in his last film – Toilet-Ek Prem Katha starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, is exploring the issue of power theft in his new film which stars Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam, Divyenndu Sharma and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.

Plot : 

Three friends played by Shraddha, Divyenndu and Shahid live in a small town in Uttarakhand that is plagued by constant power cuts. Divyenndu’s character commits suicide under the pressure of paying a hefty amount of Rs 54 lakh as his electricity bill. Kapoor, a lawyer by profession, takes the matter into his own hands and seeks justice for his friend. Yami plays the opposition lawyer who will fight Shahid in court.

Will Shahid be able to seek justice? Will the corruption of the electricity board be exposed? The answers will be revealed on 21 September.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Shree Narayan Singh, Nitin Chandrachud, Kusum Arora and Nishant Pitti, under the banner of T-Series Films and Krti Pictures.
