7 Dead, 30 Injured After Train Derails In Raebareli

Raebareli :

At least seven people were killed and 30 others seriously injured as nine coaches and the engine of the New Farakka Express derailed near Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, 50 m from Harchandpur railway station today at 6:10 am.

NDRF teams from Lucknow and Varanasi which includes 40 personnel have reached the spot and are helping with the rescue. CM Yogi Adityanath has taken cognisance of the train accident 50 m from Harchandpur railway station. He has directed the district magistrate, the superintendent of police, health authorities and NDRF to provide all possible relief and rescue.

The state transport department has allocated six buses by which 300 passengers have been evacuated. The passengers are going to Lucknow and from there they will be sent to Delhi by a special train.

The ADG said that the reason for derailment will be known after an Anti-Terrorism Squad is sent for an on-the-spot probe.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for the next of the kin of the deceased, Rs 1 lakh compensation for those with serious injuries and Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and ensured all possible assistance from the authorities.
